Cycle of Revenge
This work consists of a single video screen mounted inside a metal frame, with a small piece of black electrical tape dangling from the top. The screen displays an animation of a simple cube interacting with a virtual continuation of the tape. Like children whose play has gone stale and seek out a fight, or lovers whose attraction fades to boredom and then outright hostility, the cube and tape our characters whose relationship is laid bare. The cube jostles the tape, first gently but then with increasing spite until the tape is torn. But the tape is renewed and gets its chance at revenge, rolling the cube this way and that, then finally sending it spinning off screen. The animation repeats indefinitely, as do so many cycles of injury and retaliation in the world.
